If you are thinking of having starting to organise your next trip down to Bath for a night out or a relaxing day at the spas. I would without a doubt make an 8 o' Clock space for this whacky tour.
A few months ago I went to probably the most bizarre tours I have ever been on through Bath. It was a lovely summers evening and had no worries about rain or cold winds, it was perfect to explore Bath’s landscapes. My friend Jess from Sydney had come to stay with myself in Bath for her birthday weekend and I thought it would be a great present. It began at 8pm on the dot outside one of Bath’s lovely chic bars; The Huntsman Inn. As I turned up I had notice that the crowds had started to grow and saw about 30 people surrounding this bizarre man for this one of a kind tour. He made it very clear that this is NO history lesson merely a mockery and that if thats what you wanted you are in the wrong place! It goes for all of 90 minutes and all though its all on foot it the journey seems not nearly long enough with is perfectly timed jokes and will keep you wondering how is that possible? and is that really part of the act? As silly it is this curly haired purple suited man well get everyone laughing even those with the driest of humour. Of course there were some borderline funny jokes that are cringeworthy and many opportunities to be picked on like myself so be prepared!
If you are prepared to be picked on make sure unlike me you are prepared for the gut wrenching feeling when your great great grandmother's ring is flown over the Bath abbey tied to a purple balloon and think you will never see it again. I remember feeling like um is this real? or am i getting it back? Was that part of the act? Have i got tears in my eyes? It was very overwhelming and the fact that were 30 something people on the tour and him saying “ Im so sorry, that wasn't a part of the act. Here’s a balloon instead” made my immediate reaction to be “that’s okay.” when my mind was saying everything but.
Lucky for me! the ring returned 5mins later with a bunny on a remote control car carried in his little paws, yes, sounds unusual but once you experience the whole 90 minutes you wont think it’s all that bizarre. As seen in the video and you cannot imagine my relief and utter hatred for this man who just gave away a very important heirloom! That will teach me to be not so keen to put my hand up again or give expensive jewellery away but I also won't give anymore away of the evening because you really have to experience it for yourself. It wouldn't be right to simply write down his jokes when they left me in stitches experiencing it.
A 10 out of 10 for his witty and perfectly timed improvised lines that flow so easily around the “Scenic” tour.
